I dissected a squid!

It's squid time

                Sometime in January  I went to the Shedd Aquarium to dissect a squid.The first  person who ran the dissection was asking us stupid question like: "Do you know what an autopsy is " Or  "Do squids live in water or on land". After she asked a lot of those we got to have some fun. She gave Every group A question to answer and then we got started on our own. My group had to answer the question, "how does a squid catch its prey." My hypothesis was that the squid grabs the fish/squid(yes squid are cannibals) with the two long tentacles then the squid pulls the fish/squid up to the small tentacles then sucks the the fish with its sucks then it puts it in its mouth.
   For my groups dissection we cut a suck off of the squid then looked at it under a micro scope.A suck is like what a octopus  has but it isn't. It isn't because it is not a suction cup. It looked like a suction cup with teeth which is actually called the ring of teeth.After that part my group had to write down what happened.We had to also find out if our squid was male or female. My squid was a female because she had ovary's and there were a lot of eggs.In order to do that I had to cut the back of the squid open.We also had to find out what the squid ate last.
     My squid had nothing inside her.I learned something new that day I learned that squids have dots on them and those dots are both light or dark.If the squid doesn't want to waste ink the squid can make those dark spots become big if he is under the predator so it would look like the abyss . If the squid is over the predator then it would make the light spots deeper so it would look like the sky.Dissecting was a incredible experience for me. GOOD NIGHT TRI-STATE AREA!
